Description
The Batties are still as skittish as ever. BUT I don't know what was different this time, because instead of doing a duck and run, they remained standing and staring. It could be that it was actually quite a quiet day, or the sounds we were making inadvertently, but seeing this one hold still like this... Well, I'm really glad with the way it turned out

Originates from South Africa.
Current status: Least Concern

…In contrast to other Canids, they have a reversal in parental roles, the males taking on the majority of parental care behavior.
…Some view Bat-Eared Foxes as an entirely different sort of species – the Otocyon – while others say it is in fact closely related to the true Foxes, of the genus Vulpes, and another group divides them into an outgroup which is not closely related to true Foxes at all.
