One of the young Servals at play with his parents
Even though their tails are relatively short, doesn't mean that a kitten's fascinating with it's movement counts any less for a young Serval. His parent actually let him play with it, without making much of a fuss about it. The best kind of parent, if you ask me
Latin name: Leptailurus Serval
Originiates from Africa.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…DNA studies have shown that the Serval is closely related to the African Wild Cat, and the Caracal.
…Its long legs make it able for the Serval to achieve a top speed of 80 km/h (50 mph).
…The white spots on the back of the Serval’s ears are called “ocelli” and are used to signal kittens when hunting.

My sister has been to South Africa for a month, and she didn't see them at all. You are very lucky indeed!
The depth of field with the grass and the cat makes him stand out, even though it's a split-second capture
... Apparently fox parents (specially the dads) will let their kits play and fight with them... and chase their tails around. I guess there are a lot of pretty nice parents out there in the animal world!
And this serval dad really showed the doubters what he's all about! Cat dad can be just as nice as dog dads!
Thank you so very much for taking these photos. Happy holidays and keep up the good work!
