The Bat-Eared Foes still aren't completely at ease, but they've definitely calmed down a bit. They're not spooked that easily, and will even stand around a bit and allow you experiment a bit

…Some view Bat-Eared Foxes as an entirely different sort of species – the Otocyon – while others say it is in fact closely related to the true Foxes, of the genus Vulpes, and another group divides them into an outgroup which is not closely related to true Foxes at all.
