Photo taken in August, 2016 @ Olmense Zoo, Belgium

This White Bengal Tiger was actually on the move as we walked past :D
Like its Golden Tabby friend, he's mostly lounging on the platform, the two of them cozying up together (I really have no idea which one is the female or the male, I only know that cubs are occassionally born).
But the White one was doing something rather odd. He preferred the shadow - not too weird considering the hot day - but he kept sidling up to the nettle. If I  had to go by the way he kept wincing and smacking his lips as if he couldn't get it down or it irritated his tongue, it must not have tasted that good. But the way he responded afterwards, we thought it almost looked like he was getting high off the stuff :O

Species: Bengal Tiger (Bengaalse of koningstijger)

Latin name: Panthera Tigris Tigris

Originates from regions in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.

Current status: Endangered

Did you know:

...Though classified as Endangered, it’s the most numerous Tiger subspecies.

...The White Tiger – often mistaken for albinism – is a recessive mutant of the Bengal Tiger.

My Grandmother used to roll her hands and fingers in nettles to help with Arthritic pain. She said it stung at first but after that first sharp sting it numbed the deeper pain in her bones.
Maybe this magnificent animal was doing something similar and for sure, something so Regal could easily withstand a small sting if it had aching bones... who knows except the creature :D
