Description
Photo taken in August, 2016 @ Olmense Zoo, Belgium
This was as many of the Lion cubbie siblings we could get together in one frame. The fourth would climb up to join them, but then one would get off.
Even in a photo like this - when one isn't paying as much attention as the other two - already shows how different they look. The one in the back is a bit heavier than the one on the right, who seems to have more spots on her cheeks, while the one in front seems to have the most on his forehead.
The spots, so unexpected and present for far longer than one would imagine, are what make Lion cubs so dear to me It's characteristics of their youth, and makes them look young even when they're already of adult size.
