Description
Photo taken in July, 2013 @ Zoo Artis, The Netherlands
Early July it was officially anounced by the Royal zoo of Amsterdam - Natura Artis Magistra, in short Zoo Artis - that the couple of Fennec Foxes had given birth to kits in the second consecutive year, after a female had been introduced in early 2012.
Finn and his Lady are no longer alone in their enclosure which is starting to get a bit crowded, with the kits of last year still present, and the new one added.
It was said there would be two kits, but I've seen only one - this one.
Need I say more than "utterly, devastatingly adorable cuteness"?
Species: Fennec Fox (Fennek vos of Woestijnvos)
Latin name: Vulpes Zerda
Originates from Northern Africa.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…The word “Fennec” is Arabic for Fox, so basically, we call him “Fox Fox”.
…Its large ears are its most distinct feature, and serve to dissipate heat.
