Description
When: September 1, 2017
Where: Uilen- en Dierenpark De Paay Beesd, The Netherlands
Some zoo photographers around here consider the Yellow-Throated Marten as something of a holy grail. Since we've been seeing them regularly for almost 5 years now, we don't consider seeing them something special. Being able to photograph them, though, is a whole other story.
These guys are always so active, and because of their agile bodies, they often have sturdy fenced enclosures which makes photographing them very hard. We haven't managed to do so very often, and only a few them turned out decent.
This zoo however, had a glass wall - which had tricky reflection, some sun flares and droplets - but this one spot, with the certain angle, would be perfect for capturing the Marten. If only he'd stop, stand and stare in that place for a few seconds. Long enough for me to hit that button and photograph him as I imagined...
Okay, so he's not looking at the camera, but aiming his eyes away also makes for a really nice picture that I'm really, very proud of
