It Would Be So Nice

Where: Eureka Texel Zoo, The Netherlands

Every time we visit, these beauties are still in the same enclosure and looking incredibly beautiful. It's not often though that we manage to capture a good photo through the small fence. They are birds of prey, and the way they can look at you, makes sure you don't forget it. This time, they were a bit distracted (and perhaps we weren't as easily  persuaded) and we photographed him in all his glory

Species: Red-Tailed Hawk (Roodstaartbuizerd)

Latin name: Buteo Jamaicensis

Originates from North America, though travels as south as Panama and the West Indies.

Current status: Least Concern

… It is one of the most common Buteos of North America, and very often used in falconry in these regions.

… It is one of 3 species colloquially known in the United States as the “Chickenhawk”, though it rarely preys on standard size chickens.
