Description
Photo taken in November, 2015 @ Diergaarde Blijdorp, Rotterdam Zoo, The Netherlands
As an early birthday present, our oldest sister took us to the zoo - one we had been to in 3 years. We saw Sizzel and Todz, the Polar Bear cubs born in 2014, not yet a year old when we saw them. This one was playing with a little twig, and he was really enjoyable watching. At one point, his twin sidled over and they became interested in us. It had started raining, the wind blowing harder, nearly pulling apart our older sister's umbrella. That sound, together with the wind turning, made them smell us You could really see their noses switching as they stared at us. They even - both - got up on their hind legs. Despite them being young and still not full-size, it made for a truly impressive sight!
*~*~*~*~* On November 25, Polar Bear Frimas at Zoo Dierenrijk gave birth to twin cubs! It's the second successful birth of Polar Bear cubs after the some mother bear gave birth to Noordje and Pixel around the same date back in 2012. Both cubs have left the zoo. Sadly, in December the Netherlands' oldest Polar Bear Beja, at Zoo Dierenrijk, died suddenly. The only Polar Bears at the zoo are now Frimas, her male mate, and their cubs. *~*~*~*~*
