Linden Tree
The linden tree is at home in Europe. Among the Germans and the Slavs, the linden was considered a sacred tree. It stands for - in contrast to the oak - femininity, loveliness, fertility, the summer, cheerfulness, beauty and love. In the past, there used to be a large, wide-spreading lime tree in the center of the village, used as a "dancing linden" for weddings or as a court tree. Many places, surnames, restaurants are named for this tree. Its healing powers can be experienced directly in its vicinity, but also in the linden blossom honey and the tea infusion of the flowers, which helps against colds. Even after wars it was remembered and people planted so-called 'peace lindens'.

EarthThe world is falling to pieces,
Ruled by mankind,
The sky weeps for him,
And he drinks from her tears,
To grow lush forests,
To hide what is ugly,
To hide the man made,
To repair the damage,
That has been done for so long,
To feed the life,
That makes a home there,
For he is special,
Blessed with life,
While his brothers and sisters have none,
A protector of all that lives and breathes.
EarthLook around you, and realise,
Mostly everything is human-made.
It is therefore easy to believe so,
But Earth does not belong to the human race.
Like a zebra, a lizard, a rodent, a fish,
We are merely inhabitants.
Like ants, we have formed colonies of our own,
And like all species, we seek shelter and food.
We have learned about the predator and the prey.
We are the former, having brought Earth to decay.
If we are the biggest predators,
From whom or what are we protecting ourselves?
Our race has taken away basic needs from other species,
As well as our own.
And in some cases, in the cruellest of ways.
Maybe there’s the answer.
But many of us are self-aware,
Something other species do not seem to be.
So why don’t we use our power for good,
And leave the planet in the best shape it can be?

Heavy are the roots,
growing branches towards our dreams
while leaves give life back.

To FlyIf my life were to resemble
that of a butterfly's,
ever so happy,
could you deem I.
To fly-
with genuine ease,
to taste all the flowers
and be with the trees.
Yes, oh yes,
any fool could see,
that the life of a butterfly,
is the life for me.

"Earth Day should encourage us to reflect on what we are doing to make our planet a more sustainable and livable place."
